About Me

My
Story
Growing up on the shores of the Pacific Ocean, surrounded by the redwoods of the Santa Cruz Mountains, I formed a deep connection to my environment, experiencing a unique blend of freedom, fear, and peace. This backdrop not only ignited my sense of adventure but also instilled in me the values of acceptance, respect, and collaboration. From an early age, I learned that confronting fears is an essential part of life; the real challenge lies in setting those fears aside and embracing transformative experiences.
With this mindset, I dedicated myself to overcoming adversity and providing my family with opportunities through travel, education, and a shared commitment to our future.
My journey began right out of high school when I enlisted in the U.S. Army as an infantryman. My time stationed in Germany and deployments to the Balkan region helped me cultivate foundational leadership skills.
After receiving an Honorable Discharge, I embraced roles across various fields, including the service industry, sales, construction, and management. Each of these experiences reinforced the collaborative mindset essential for success and led me to a rewarding career in law enforcement.
Over 15 years, I have served in multiple roles with the Aspen Police Department, the Eagle County Sheriff's Office, and the Basalt Police Department. For the past eight years, I have worked as a District Attorney Investigator in Colorado's 5th Judicial District, currently serving as Chief Investigator. In this capacity, I lead an investigative team and manage the Sexual Assault Response Team, significantly contributing to prosecutorial efforts in sensitive cases. I also share my knowledge as an instructor at the police academy, covering topics such as search and seizure, self-defense/arrest control, active shooter response, vehicle stops, judicial processes, report writing, warrant preparation, and sexual assualt investigations. As a guest presenter at Eagle Valley High School, I speak to U.S. government students about constitutional rights and how they can understand and apply them in their lives.
As Chief Criminal Investigator, I have directed and overseen numerous complex investigations that have included homicides, sexual violence, officer-involved shootings, use of force, and economic crimes, while adhering to a strong moral code and a set of guiding principles, values, and ethics.
Throughout my service, I have built trusted relationships with law enforcement, wrap-around services, and community partners, gaining insights into what works, what needs improvement, and how the Sheriff's Office can better serve our community. I was raised and have traveled in environments that encouraged etiquette, respect, and collaboration. I understand the values that make a place worthy of being called home and how to build trust within the community.
My vision for the Sheriff's Office is clear and practical: to create an office that is approachable, accessible, and transparent; one that supports deputies in their roles and provides growth opportunities; one that focuses on real community priorities working through collaboration and localized steering committees. As Sheriff, I will prioritize strengthening internal culture, retention, and training; improving overall response through data-driven decisions; expanding community-based problem-solving, and constitutional, equitable policing.
I am running for Sheriff because I believe every resident of Eagle County deserves to feel safe at home, at work, and on the road. The Sheriff's Office must earn that trust every day. By actively listening to the community, partnering with local leaders, and leading by example, my goal is to build a Sheriff's Office that is professional, accountable, and deeply rooted in the community it serves. If you share my commitment to safe communities, responsible leadership, and a Sheriff's Office that works for everyone, I ask for your support and your vote.
